Firewood Delivery — FAQs

What does “seasoned” actually mean?

It means the wood has been split and air-dried long enough to get its moisture down around 20% or less. Seasoned wood lights easily and burns hot and clean; green wood hisses, smokes and leaves creosote in your chimney.

How much is a cord?

A full cord is 128 cubic feet — a stack roughly 4 ft high by 4 ft deep by 8 ft long. We also deliver half cords if you burn less or are short on space.

Can you stack it for me?

Yes. By default we drop the load where you want it, but we can stack the pile for you — just ask when you order.

Why does buying firewood locally matter?

Moving firewood long distances is how invasive pests like the emerald ash borer and Asian longhorned beetle spread into new areas of Massachusetts. Buying wood cut near where you burn it keeps your trees and your neighbors’ trees safer.
